Hello you! I'm Joy. I'm delighted that you've stopped by Simply Bloom {Design}.
You can find me, most days, journaling my deliciously messy life over here, at Simply Bloom {the blog} or speaking to women about how incredibly fantastic they are.
For as long as I can remember, I have been smitten with pretty things. Whether it was a flower, a book cover, or a pasta box…I was enamored by bold color, clean lines, pretty fonts and swirls. I was organizing, color coordinating and beautifying anything I could get my little hands on long before I knew how to properly tie my shoe laces.
Little did I know my passion for arranging colors, shapes and swirly things would blossom, some 20 years later, into a successful graphic design business.
Born and raised in Southern Africa, I moved with my family to America in 1994. Michigan, to be exact. After graduating high school, I went on to explore the world of Massage Therapy and Fitness Instruction, not giving a thought to anything design related {after all…it’s my sisters who are stunningly creative; my older sister paints anything and everything that will stay still long enough to be painted, from walls and terracotta pots, to birdhouses and bellies, while my younger sister creates beauty from garbage: www.reloveddesigns.com. And still, my baby sister is making the world a more beautiful place in other extravagant ways. Yes, I’m a blessed girl! And I haven’t even told you about my fantastic parents, mind-blowingly spectacular husband and wildly wonderful wee ones}.
After marrying my best friend {something I highly recommend} and starting a family, I started asking God for something unique that I could do/create/sell that would enable me to stay home with our children.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Without a scrap of advertising, this venture has been nothing short of miraculous. As a stay-at-home mom with the highly official office hours of…well, nap time…I never anticipated my designs would leave my immediate circle of influence, not to mention the state of Michigan.
Within the first 2 years of launching, I had worked with clients on corporate event material and weddings in 9 States, and as far out as South Africa and Kuwait. My socks have officially been knocked off and I continue to be amazed by the most delightful clients who just happen to “wander” across my path, many who have become great friends.
Needless to say, God was ridiculously faithful in answering my prayer.
